 | Details:"La Baie" (The Bay) The yearning for a holiday by the sea, somewhere in one of the bays in the South of France – with this gracious work of printmaking in shining pastel colours, we find Chagall’s romantic side. A pink couple in love is dreaming on the back of a big bird and displays their affection for each other. Below the couple is the intensely blue sea with a sailing boat and a jumping fish. In the background, a fishing village leans against two hills. In the foreground, there are palm trees and the face of a mysterious person in green. We are perhaps reminded of our honeymoon, or made hopeful for a holiday in the near future. This is N O T a mass-produced reprint (e.g. photo lithograph or giclée print) but the original lithograph from the year 1962, exactly as referenced in the authorized catalogue raisonné!
